Chase Meidroth had four of Chicago’s seven hits on Wednesday night, teaming with Andrew Benintendi for two RBI singles each in a 4-2 road win over the Texas Rangers. Anthony Kay allowed two runs on five hits in five innings for his first win in more than a month and setup man Grant Taylor struck out five of the six batters he faced as the bullpen worked four no-hit innings to close out the game.
Yordan Alvarez and Isaac Paredes slugged back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning as the Astros scored three times to claim a 5-2 win over the visiting Florida Marlins to complete a three-game sweep. Jeremy Peña added a solo shot in the third inning and Peter Lambert allowed two runs on six hits over six innings while taking a no-decision.
Right-hander Davis Martin (9-5) starts the series opener for the White Sox, coming in with a 3.31 ERA and 1.274 WHIP in 19 starts and 106 innings. Houston gives the ball to right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (7-5), who enters with a 4.34 ERA and 1.310 WHIP in 87 innings over 16 starts.
