In the first game of this three-game series, Purple Reign took care of business 80-61 against JHX Hoops. They can close out the series in a sweep here and advance to take on the winner of the three-game series between the Aftershocks and The Enchantment. Michael Beasley led the way for Purple Reign in Game 1 with 20 points. He also stuffed the stat sheet with six assists, three rebounds, three blocks, and two steals on 6-of-13 shooting. Purple Reign represents alumni of Kansas State led by Beasley. JHX Hoops represents the alumni from in-state rivals Kansas, led by 2008 National Champion and two-time NBA Champion Mario Chalmers.

Chalmers came off the bench and played just eight minutes in the Game 1 loss. He was the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player in 2008, averaging 14.8 points and 3.2 assists per game.
Billy Preston came off the bench to lead JHX Hoops with 15 points and seven rebounds. Zeke Mayo led the starters with 12 points, getting to the free throw line to shoot 7-of-8 for the majority of his points.
Purple Reign featured four players scoring at least 15 points in the win, led by Beasley. Austin Trice and Xavier Snead each scored 16 points on 14-of-19 shooting combined. Shaun Williams came off the bench for 15 points, three rebounds and three assists.
