The Twins won their rubber match at home against the Athletics on Sunday, 11-8, for back-to-back wins. Connor Prielipp had a great start, going 5.2 innings while only giving up two hits and one run in his first start since returning from the IL. The A’s didn’t get on the board until the sixth inning, but they got after Minnesota’s bullpen to make this one closer than anticipated. The Twins scored the first seven runs of the game, but still did more damage in the later innings to prevail and win the series. Ryan Jeffers led the charge, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
The Royals won back-to-back one-run games against the Tigers, with KC taking the finale on Sunday, 5-4. The Royals were down to two outs in the bottom of the eighth when Michael Massey hit the go-ahead two-run homer. Detroit was unable to score anything the rest of the game. The Royals got up to a three-run lead early, highlighted by a homer by Thomas in the first inning. But Detroit came back with a four-run fifth inning.
