Veronica Burton leads the Golden State Valkyries against the Toronto Tempo for the second time in three days on Tuesday.
The Golden State Valkyries (20-9) snapped their two-game winning streak that bookended the All-Star break with a win over the Toronto Tempo (10-19) at home. They take the court against Toronto on Tuesday to close out the season series between two of the newest franchises in the WNBA. In Sunday’s game, Toronto won, 96-79, behind 24 points off the bench from Janelle Salaun. Golden State’s bench combined for 46 points, with Salaun leading the way. Veronica Burton and Gabby Williams combined for 32 points in the win. Before losing back-to-back games, Golden State had won a franchise record nine straight games, vaulting to second place in the WNBA.

Toronto is moving in the opposite direction over the last month. The Tempo have lost six straight and 10 of the last 11 overall to fall from 9-9 and in the playoff hunt to 10-19 and outside of the playoff picture.
Nyara Sabally led Toronto with 19 points and eight rebounds in the loss. All five starters scored in double figures. Rookie Kiki Rice added 16 points, Laura Juskaite chipped in 15 points, Julia Allemand finished with 11 points and six assists, and Maria Conde stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Golden State won the first game in this series as well. Salaun came off the bench to lead the team with 26 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point range.
