Kansas City opens a 10-game road trip coming off five wins in six games since the All-Star break but placed All-Star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. on the injured list for the first time in his career as the American League leader with 30 stolen bases deals with tightness in his lower back.

Hao-Yu Lee hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the fourth inning on Wednesday night and Keider Montero teamed with four relievers on a four-hitter as Detroit beat the Chicago Cubs 5-1 at Wrigley Field. Spencer Torkelson also homered for the Tigers and Zach McKinstry added some insurance with an RBI double in the ninth as Detroit won the three-game series.
