The Giants are currently in fourth place in the National League West standings with a record of 47-64 and are trailing the division-leading Dodgers by 22 games. The Padres are sitting just above the Giants in the standings with a record of 57-54 and trail the Dodgers by 12 games. While much of the season remains, both teams will try look to move up in the standings and secure a playoff spot as the second half of the season continues.

On Thursday night, the teams opened their four-game series and the Giants walked away with a 4-1 victory. The Padres bounced back, however, winning Friday night’s game 7-0 before playing to a narrow 6-5 victory on Saturday night. Mason Miller was credited with the win on Saturday, throwing for 1.2 innings and striking out three batters.
Freddy Fermin led the Padres offensive efforts on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Fermin hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth and followed it with an RBI single to left field. Jackson Merrill chipped in two RBIs with his only hit of the game, a two-run double in the bottom of the first. The team finished the game with 10 hits.
Landen Roupp will take the bump on Sunday afternoon for the Giants, while Michael King will get the start for the Padres. Roupp is currently 7-9 on the season with an ERA of 4.12 and King is 6-7 with an ERA of 3.38.
