Friday’s action delivered several memorable performances. Olympic champion Noah Lyles reinforced his status as the nation’s premier sprinter by capturing the men’s 100-meter title in a world-leading 9.79 seconds, while Sha’Carri Richardson claimed the women’s 100-meter crown in a season-best 10.77, marking her third national title. Lyles has now won 10 national titles, eight of which are from outdoor races and two that took place indoor.
The distance events also produced impressive racing, with Woody Kincaid winning the men’s 10,000 meters and Sydney Vaught taking the women’s title after strong closing laps. Rising teenage sensation Cooper Lutkenhaus added to the excitement by advancing through the men’s 800-meter rounds, highlighting the next generation of American middle-distance talent.
Saturday’s schedule features championship races in the men’s and women’s 400 meters, both 1,500-meter finals, the men’s and women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase and the women’s 100-meter hurdles final. Field event fans can also look forward to the men’s pole vault, women’s shot put, women’s triple jump, and men’s discus.
